My sister's blunt budget critique changed my whole approach to family dinners

Last month my sister flat out said I was spending $200 a week on groceries just to show off, and she was right. Now I plan meals around what's actually on sale at the Kroger near us and we've cut it to $130, but I still worry I'm being too cheap for the holiday gatherings. Has anyone else had a sibling call them out on spending and actually fix it?

Last Thanksgiving my brother told me my turkey tasted like a hockey puck with gravy. Cost me maybe $12 less than your old budget and I still burned the rolls. At least your sister gave you math, mine just gave me trauma.
