My sister's $600 wedding gift demand broke the whole family dinner last Sunday
She pulled me aside before the lasagna came out and said she expects cash only for her Vegas elopement, so I handed her a receipt for the plane ticket I already bought and asked if that counted, has anyone else had a sibling try to rewrite the rules mid-meal?

Three hundred dollars for our own wedding back in 2018 turned into a full blown argument about who got the nicer gift from our parents. My sister-in-law brought it up at Thanksgiving two years later. People use money as a scoreboard, not a gift. Your ticket shows you cared enough to show up, which is more than cash says. The second someone makes a wedding about the price tag, the whole event stops being about the couple. Good on you for calling it out before the lasagna got cold.
