My mom's house in Cincinnati is so full of my old stuff she can't use the guest room, and I live 500 miles away now.

My aunt's basement in Dayton is a museum of my cousin's old sports trophies and band uniforms. The real issue isn't the stuff itself, it's the emotional tax of dealing with it. Every box is a conversation about letting go that nobody wants to have. So it just sits there, turning a room into a time capsule, because it's easier than the fight.

Come on, it's a guest room. How often does she actually have guests? My parents' spare room is basically a storage unit too. It's not like she's living in a hallway. Just tell her to shove it all in the closet when company comes over.
