My brother asked for $2,500 last Tuesday and I said give me a day to think, now the whole family is split
Last Tuesday my little brother called me from the parking lot of his job in Akron and asked to borrow $2,500 for a truck repair, and I told him I needed a day to think about it instead of just saying yes. My wife thinks saying yes with no plan just teaches him to keep coming back, but my mom called me on Thursday and said family helps family and I should just hand it over. Now my sister is texting me saying I'm being cold, and my brother won't answer my calls at all. So here is my debate: is a straight yes the loving move, or is a written payback plan with a date actually the kinder one? I want to hear from people who have been on both sides of this, what did you do and how did it turn out?
