Honestly, for two years I just gave my mom $400 a month in cash to help with the house and never asked questions because asking felt rude. Ngl, that turned into her bringing up every extra thing I owed for, like $60 for the electric and $35 for internet, with no paper trail. Last month in Sacramento we tried a shared Google Sheet listing every bill, what I pay, and what she pays, and it took 20 minutes to set up. Tbh the fight we had over the phone on March 3rd about a "missing" payment stopped happening once we both could see the same numbers. The weird part is she likes it too, she said it makes her feel less like she has to keep track in her head. Has anyone else switched from cash to some kind of shared doc with a parent, and did it actually stick after a few months?
