Why does nobody talk about using a coax stripper for Tefzel wire
Spent 25 minutes wrestling with a bundle of Tefzel in a King Air last week, then tried my coax stripper on a whim - perfect strip every time without nicking the conductor. Has anyone else found a random tool that works better than the 'right' one for a specific job?

honestly you're just asking for trouble using a coax tool on tefzel, that stuff's too brittle for anything but the manufacturer's spec.

Honestly, have you actually tried it on Tefzel yourself? I'm not saying it works on every gauge but if you dial the depth right on a decent coax stripper it's way more consistent than the special Tefzel tools. The problem with the spec ones is they're pricey and they still need a good touch. Coax tools give you that clean stop for the blade depth so you don't cut into the conductor. Plus they usually have a built in stop for the insulation length, which saves you from guessing. Yeah the material is brittle but that's exactly why a precise depth tool beats a freehand knife or a generic stripper. I've seen guys wreck whole bundles with the "right" tool cause they squeezed too hard.
