A retired FAA inspector said that over a beer? That's some serious insider info right there. The idea that regs are just the starting point is kinda wild. Makes you wonder what else they don't tell you in ground school.

Actually, those regs are the finish line for a reason (they're the bare minimum you can't go below). Ground school gives you the map, but experience teaches you how to drive.
