That one Tuesday where a loose screw caused 6 hours of troubleshooting

I spent a whole afternoon chasing a intermittent fault on a King Air's autopilot up in Spokane and it turned out to be a single screw backing out on a relay panel. Has anyone else had a gremlin like that where the fix was way simpler than the hunt?

oh man, that exact thing happened to me on a Cessna 210 out of Boise... spent almost 8 hours chasing a voltage drop that would come and go. I pulled every panel, checked every ground, swapped out boxes. Finally found it, a single screw holding a ground strap had worked itself loose about a quarter turn. Soon as I snugged it up, everything worked perfect. It's always the simple stuff that makes you feel like an idiot after you've been tearing your hair out all day. Makes you want to just walk away and come back tomorrow sometimes...

That loose screw thing will haunt you for days after. Eight hours on a wild goose chase over a quarter turn is brutal, I've been there more times than I care to count. Sometimes the best move is to step back, breathe, and hit it fresh the next day.
