Swapped my old multimeter for a Fluke 87V last year

Used to chase ghost signals with a $30 meter from Amazon, kept getting false readings on a 737 pitot static test. After three callbacks in one month, my lead told me to borrow his 87V. Now I don't touch a plane without one. Anyone else notice how much time you save with a decent meter?

Three callbacks in one month" sounds like my average Tuesday with a cheap multimeter. I swear mine could detect a loose wire in another zip code but miss a dead short right in front of me.

Had a buddy tell me he read somewhere cheap meters can pick up stray voltages from nearby wires, that's why they seem to find ghosts but miss the real problems. I keep an old Fluke 77 around just for stuff like that, seems to be way more consistent. Those cheap ones are okay for a quick continuity check but I wouldn't trust one to troubleshoot a complicated circuit. They just don't have the filtering to handle real world noise.
