Rant: Nose gear sensor fault on a CRJ-700 threw me for a loop in Denver

Last Tuesday I was doing a preflight on a CRJ-700 and the nose gear steering sensor kept reading faults on the test set. Swapped the proximity switch and reseated the harness, but it still failed until I found a chafed wire behind the junction box. Has anyone else seen that specific run have insulation issues after a few thousand cycles?
