Overheard a lead tech saying 'just twist and tape' on a Garmin G5000 install
I was wiring up a G5000 harness last month and the lead said to skip the crimps and just twist the wires with electrical tape. That cant be right for a certified plane right? Has anyone else run into guys taking shortcuts on avionics work that you had to push back on?

Well, I used to think twist and tape was fine, but that changed my mind real quick.

Hold on, you really think twist and tape is ever okay in an airplane? I gotta push back on that one. A little vibration over time and that tape gets gummy and the twist comes loose, you're chasing a flickering display or worse. I've seen it happen on a King Air where a twisted splice came undone mid-flight and killed the #2 comm, that's not a gamble I'd take with a G5000 install.
