Hot take: I stopped rushing write ups after a lead handed mine back in front of the whole hangar
Last Tuesday I signed off a pitot heat check and wrote "ops normal" in the squawk box like I always do. The lead looked at it for two seconds and said "that tells me nothing about what you actually did." He handed it back in front of the other three techs and told me to list the amp draw, the voltage at the connector, and the exact resistance reading I got on the element. At first I was burned up about it, figured he was just showing off. But two days later another guy had to chase the same squawk on the same tail and my notes saved him about 40 minutes of pulling panels. Since then I log the numbers even when the box is small, and I don't care if it takes me five extra minutes. Has anyone else had a lead call out their paperwork like that, or am I the only one who used to write lazy squawks?
