Appreciation post: The day I figured out I had been crimping pins wrong for 12 years
I was working on a connector for a Garmin G1000 harness last month, and a senior tech walked by and watched me for a second. He just pointed at my hand and said "you're using the wrong die position on that crimper." I had been using the middle slot for D-sub pins for over a decade. Turns out the outer slot gives a proper gas-tight crimp every time. I always wondered why some of my pins would pull out with a light tug. The guy showed me the difference under a magnifying glass and it was night and day. Has anyone else found out they were doing some basic thing wrong for way too long after thinking they had it down?

Is it really that deep though? Like yeah they're bad but you can always just adjust your style a bit.
