A lead at Boeing told me my coax prep was causing intermittent faults
He pulled me aside after a test flight in Everett and said my knife cuts were leaving tiny metal shavings inside the connector. I switched to using a proper coaxial stripping tool and now I always blow out the barrel with compressed air before assembly. Has anyone else found a better way to clean those tiny F-type connectors?

Honestly that whole compressed air thing sounds like overkill. A quick visual check has always been fine for me, never had a fault.

Yeah the visual check thing is exactly what I used to do too, like @susan_hall said. I got burned once on a satellite TV install where a tiny speck I missed caused a whole weekend callback. Now I do the air blowout every single time, no matter what. It takes two seconds and saves so much headache later. I even keep a little can of air in my tool bag just for connectors.
