Was sanding down a tricky blend panel on a 2018 Civic in my shop yesterday when the DA caught the edge wrong and ripped through the clear

I was in such a hurry to get the job done by 5 PM that I forgot to feather the edge properly and now I gotta strip it back to primer and start over, anyone else ever ruin a panel rushing a sanding pass?

Pull that same impatient energy into anything else in life and you'll trip over your own feet every time. I've noticed how rushing always costs more time in the long run, whether it's painting a door or packing a box. Seems like the universe just punishes hurry every single time you try it.

Take a step back and ask yourself if you really need to go all the way to primer. In my experience, a lot of times we overreact and a simple touch up blend might have saved it. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes a light scuff and a respray over the existing clear can hide a small tear if you feather it out far enough. I've fixed similar mistakes on customer cars where the clear was thin but the color coat was still solid underneath. Just saying, before you commit to stripping it all the way down, try a test spot to see if you can get away with less work. Sometimes the panic makes us think it's worse than it actually is.
