Vent: spent 9 hours block sanding a repaint that got wrecked by one hail storm in Aurora
Two Saturdays ago I finally finished a full repaint on a 2011 Silverado, 9 hours of block sanding over three evenings in my garage. Looked like glass under the shop lights. Next morning a freak hail storm rolled through Aurora and put about 40 dents in the hood and roof, some the size of a quarter. I just stood in the driveway holding my coffee like an idiot. Insurance covered the dents but not my labor, and the customer asked if I could 'just pop them out' since the paint was fresh anyway. Now I'm wondering if I should have pushed him to add the comprehensive coverage before I started. Anyone got a trick for working dents on a fresh base coat without burning through the clear?
