Tried two different rust converters on a 2005 Tacoma frame, one was a total waste of time.

I had a job on a Tacoma with some surface rust on the frame rails. I tried a popular gel-based converter from the parts store and a cheaper liquid one my supplier carries. The gel just sat on top and peeled off after a day, but the liquid soaked in and turned the rust black and hard. The difference was night and day after I scuffed them both with a wire wheel. Anyone have a go-to brand for this kind of prep work that actually bonds?

Ever try a product that just laughs at you?

That "laughs at you" feeling is spot on. My old printer would flash its error light in this specific pattern whenever it ran out of cyan, like it was mocking me for trying to print a black and white document. Smart home gadgets are the worst for this, when a voice assistant misunderstands a simple command and does something completely ridiculous instead. It feels less like a tool and more like a bad roommate.
