Tried a heat gun on a plastic bumper repair and it went wrong fast

I was fixing a cracked bumper on a 2018 Civic and thought a heat gun would help the filler set better, but it just made the plastic underneath bubble up in weird spots. Now I have to sand the whole thing back and start over, which is a pain. Has anyone else had a problem like this with heat on newer car plastics?

Bubbling up" sounds bad but is it really that big of a deal?

Saw a buddy's entire project get scrapped because of bubbling up. His team spent weeks on a feature that bubbled up a tiny data mismatch, ended up corrupting a whole batch of user accounts. Took them three days just to roll everything back. It's one of those things that seems small until it quietly breaks something way bigger downstream.
