Swore by name-brand sanding discs til my supplier ran out and I tried the $0.80 generic ones from the auto paint store in Phoenix

After 3 panels on a dented Chevy Silverado, the cheap discs actually cut cleaner and lasted longer than the 3M ones, so has anyone else found a random budget brand that outperforms the expensive stuff?

I heard some body shop guys talking about this, apparently the cheap discs can actually cut BETTER because the grit is held in a softer resin that lets the abrasive particles break away slowly instead of clogging immediately.
