Showerthought: my $3 roll of masking tape saved a $600 paint job in Spokane
Three years ago I was spraying a bumper in my Spokane shop and a gust of wind kicked up sand right as I laid the last coat. A buddy of mine who does paint for a living told me to stop trying to peel overspray tape off dry and instead rub the edge with a fresh piece before it cures. Now I keep a cheap roll of masking tape on my cart just for that trick, and it pulls that fuzzy overspray line clean without gouging the clear. Did it on a silver Camry last month and the customer never even knew there was a redo. Cost me three bucks, saved me hours of wet sanding. Anyone else got a two dollar trick that ends up saving real money?
