Overheard a customer at the parts counter say 'just make it look good, I'm selling it tomorrow'

Made me think about how many 'quick fixes' we probably undo for the next guy. Ever get a car in that was clearly just patched for a sale?

What kind of junk are they hiding with a one day patch job? Honestly, that's so shady. I've seen cars come in where the check engine light was just unplugged. The whole dash was dark. New owner drives it for a week before they figure it out. It's a total scam on the buyer.

Rowan593 that story about the unplugged dash light is wild but not even the worst I've heard. My cousin bought a truck where they'd stuffed steel wool in the exhaust to pass an emissions test. Thing ran like garbage after a hundred miles. Makes you wonder what else people will try to hide for a quick sale.

And steel wool in the exhaust, that's a new low. People really think they're slick with these bandaid fixes that fall apart the second you drive the car home. It's one thing to sell a beater with full disclosure, but this is straight up theft. You pay for a working vehicle and end up with a ticking time bomb. How do these sellers sleep at night knowing the buyer is gonna be stuck with their mess?
