Just realized why my filler keeps pinholing after sanding, and it's my own dumb fault
Ngl I was at a shop in Dallas last Thursday picking up some parts and overheard an old painter telling a kid to degrease after sanding, not before. I always wiped panels down with wax and grease remover right when they came in, then blocked and sanded, then went straight to filler. Turns out my sandpaper and my hands were dragging oil and dirt right back into the scratch, which is where those tiny pinholes come from. I tested it on a fender this week, wiped it again after 180 grit, and got zero pinholes across 3 coats. Feels obvious now but nobody ever said it out loud to me in 6 years. Do you guys degrease before sanding, after, or both?
