Heard someone swear by bondo for dent repair but I've always been a metal finisher purist
A guy at the local NAPA in Phoenix told me he does all his dings with just filler and primer, and I've spent years hammering everything straight with a slide hammer and dollies. Which approach holds up better long term for daily drivers you see?

Depends on the area you're working on - quarter panels behind the wheels see a lot of stone chips and moisture, which can bubble filler later on. Slide hammer work holds up for years if you get the metal stretched back flat without thinning it out too much. You ever had any bondo jobs crack on you after a hard winter with road salt?

Wait, does this NAPA guy also tell people to use flex tape on exhaust leaks? I've seen bondo bubble up worse than a teenager's acne after one Arizona monsoon season, and I'd rather beat metal all day than deal with that mess later. You want hard winter road salt cracking? Try explaining to a customer why their quarter panel looks like a dried out riverbed after two years, that's real fun. Metal work might take longer but at least you don't have to apologize with a grinder in your hand.
