Had a fender gap nightmare on a 2018 Silverado last night
I was finishing up a front end job on a Silverado at the shop around 2 AM. Everything lined up perfect on the passenger side but the driver fender had a 3/8 inch gap near the headlight. Turns out the new core support was slightly bent from shipping. Ended up using a ratchet strap to pull it into alignment while I tightened the bolts down. Got it within 1/16 inch. Has anyone else dealt with aftermarket parts being warped like that?

Oh man, @richardh44 I gotta push back on that a little. A bent core support from shipping isn't really about "throwaway culture" - it's just cheap packaging and rough handling by freight companies. I've seen OEM parts come in with damage too, just less often. The real issue is that aftermarket parts are made to a price point, so they use thinner metal that bends easier in transit. I had a fender for a Ford that was twisted like a pretzel out of the box last year. A ratchet strap is basically a pro move for getting them straight, so good on you for making it work.
