Customer told me my $85 blend was "too cheap to be good" so he took his Corolla to the shop across town
Guy came in two Saturdays back with a 2016 Corolla, scrape down the rear quarter. I quoted him $85 for the blend and told him I could have it done by end of day. He looked at the number, got quiet, and said a real shop would charge him $300 minimum, so he walked. Fine by me, no hard feelings.
He came back Thursday. Paid the other shop $340. The paint didn't match, orange peel everywhere, and they sprayed half his tail light. He asked if I'd fix it. I told him sure, but now it's $200 because I have to undo somebody else's mess first.
He paid it. Didn't say a word about the price this time.
Anybody else run into the thing where being honest with your pricing makes people trust you less? Or is it just me in this town?
