Can we talk about the paint booth at that shop in Memphis?

I stopped by a buddy's shop in Memphis last week to borrow his spot welder, and I couldn't believe the state of their paint booth. Filters looked like they hadn't been changed in six months, dust caked all over the intake vents. He said they've been fighting fisheyes and dirt nibs for weeks now, blaming every batch of paint they buy. I pointed at the booth and told him straight up that's your problem right there. A proper filter swap kit runs like 80 bucks and takes an afternoon to install. He just shrugged and said they'd get to it next month. How do you guys deal with shop owners who ignore the obvious stuff?

Man that filter swap kit story hit close to home, I just walked a buddy through the same fix and it solved everything overnight.

That filter swap kit is the cheapest fix in the whole shop, so why do these guys drag their feet on it? Your buddy's excuse about getting to it next month drives me nuts, like he's got cash to burn on wasted paint and rework. What is it with shop owners treating a paint booth like some kind of mystery box where problems just appear out of nowhere... almost like they're scared to look at the actual cause. Did he ever actually stand inside that booth with a flashlight and look up at the intake vents? I bet if he did, he'd see half an inch of dust and dead bugs just sitting there, choking the airflow. Sometimes you gotta grab that guy by the arm and drag him over there so he can't shrug it off anymore.
