Am I the only one who thinks those big chain body shops cut too many corners?

I swung by a Maaco in Portland last week to grab some paint codes off a buddy's car. While I was waiting I watched them slap bondo on a dent without even sanding the area that well first. I mean maybe it's just me but that kind of work is gonna crack in a year no matter how good the paint looks. Anyone else notice stuff like that at the big chain places or am I being too picky?

Dude the bondo thing is exactly what I've seen at a chain shop near me. They just glob it on without prepping the bare metal first and it's going to bubble up from moisture in no time. I'm no pro but even I know you gotta at least rough it up and clean it. Not worth the headache down the road.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've seen plenty of backyard bondo jobs last years without bubbling. Maybe the moisture thing is a bit overhyped.
