A customer in Boise said my clear coat looked 'wavy' under shop lights. Now I check panels with a halogen work lamp before calling it done.

@laurar38 I get what you're saying, but I've learned the hard way that one picky customer is enough to make you second-guess everything. That halogen lamp trick is something I started doing after a guy in a parking lot pulled out a flashlight to check my work, and I felt ridiculous until I saw what he saw. Now I'd rather crack a joke about being paranoid than hand over a car with any surprises under those lights.

Seems like overkill to me lol. Most people only see their car in normal daylight, not under harsh shop lights. If it looks fine outside, that customer was just being way too picky.

Way too picky" is where I have to disagree. Harsh lights just show what's already there, you know? If a detailer missed a spot, it's a missed spot. The customer paid for a full service, not a "looks okay from far away" service. Daylight can be forgiving, but that's not the point.
