Was told to stop lens stacking but my single 130mm shot looks worse
Last month at the Table Mountain star party my neighbor said stacking 15 frames ruins detail and I should shoot single exposures, but my one 2 minute shot of the Orion Nebula came out with more noise than my triple stack from 2022, anyone else find stacking works better for nebula photography?

That 2022 stack probably had better guiding and seeing conditions than this single frame, not just more subs. I checked my own logs and my best single 90 second shot from a calm night beats any stack I've taken in gusty air, so your neighbor might be confusing cause and effect.
