Rant: I used to think stacking 50 frames was enough for a decent deep sky shot
Now I won't even start unless I have at least 200, because the noise reduction is just that much better. Anyone else find their old standards just don't cut it anymore?
Yeah, I get that. My old shots from a couple years back look so grainy now I can't even look at them. Honestly, just keep stacking, the difference is crazy once you push past that 150 mark.
Take it from someone who's tested this a bunch, the real jump in quality happens more between 50 and 100 frames than from 100 to 200. Your mileage may vary depending on your camera and light pollution though.
