Honestly, my whole astrophotography trip in Joshua Tree was almost wrecked by a single loose cable on my star tracker.

Tbh, I was 3 hours into a 4-hour exposure of the Milky Way core when my tracker just stopped, and I had to spend 20 frantic minutes in the dark with a red headlamp re-seating every connection before the sky got too bright.

Ugh, that "frantic minutes with a red headlamp" feeling is the worst. I started putting a strip of gaffer tape over my main power connection after a similar thing happened. Honestly, it's saved me a few times now.

Oh man, that's smart. I just realized I should probably tape over my backup camera's power too, since it's right next to the main one and just as easy to bump.

Same goes for anything we do in the dark or under pressure. Our brains just don't work as well when we're rushed or frustrated, so a little prevention goes a long way. It's funny how much of life is just about making the easy mistake a little harder to make.
