Found out the Pillars of Creation photo is a fake color composite and I can't stop thinking about it
I was reading a NASA page about the James Webb telescope last week and found out those famous green and orange colors are not what your eye would see at all, they assigned colors to different infrared wavelengths so we can tell the gases apart. I always figured Hubble and Webb shots were basically space cameras doing their thing, not somebody in an office picking a color code. So how do you all decide what counts as a real photo versus an artistic take when you post stuff here?
