Why does nobody talk about how fake 'ancient' artifacts wreck the hobby

I blew $350 on what a dealer in Tucson swore was a genuine Roman glass bottle from the 2nd century. Got it home, started looking closer, and the patina looked totally wrong. Took it to a university lab and they said it was modern glass with acid treatment, maybe 20 years old. The dealer blocked me when I asked for a refund. If you're buying antiquities online, test everything or you'll get burned like I did. Has anyone else dealt with fakes from Arizona dealers?

And here I thought the only thing coming out of Arizona was questionable cactus dealers and that one guy selling "genuine" Native American dreamcatchers made in China. I had a similar run-in with a dealer in Santa Fe who tried to sell me a "Viking" drinking horn that was definitely a cow horn from a farm in Nebraska, complete with a sticker on the bottom. At least your bottle would look nice on a shelf if you don't look too close, mine just smelled like old barn. Hope you can get the bank to reverse that charge, that's about the only way you'll see your 350 bucks again.
