Update: I was working a site in southern Utah last fall and a sudden rainstorm washed out part of our grid. Changed how I plan for weather now.

Remember seeing a flash flood in Moab once that moved a whole parking lot of rental Jeeps. Those desert storms come out of nowhere like someone turned on a faucet. Now I always check the canyon forecast even if the sky is clear where I am. Makes you respect how fast things can change out there.

My buddy lost a whole survey marker in a five-minute Arizona gully-washer last July.

Southwest Colorado got me the same way a couple years ago. I started keeping a weather radio in my truck after a storm moved in so fast I barely had time to pack up my gear before the wash started flowing. Now I pull up radar on my phone every morning before I head out, even if it looks clear above me.
