Stumbled on a weird stone circle in Wales last month

I was hiking near the Brecon Beacons and came across this ring of stones that wasn't on any map I could find. There were maybe 15 or 16 of them, each about knee-high, and they formed a perfect circle maybe 20 feet across. No markings or carvings, just rough granite. Talked to a local farmer and he said they've been there as long as anyone can remember but nobody's ever dug around them. I snapped some photos and coordinates but I'm not sure if I should report it to the local archaeology society or if it's probably nothing. Has anyone else found unlisted stone features in the UK and gotten them looked at?

I remember reading an article in the Guardian a few years ago about an aerial photography project that found over a hundred unlisted stone circles across Wales and Scotland. The coordinates thing is smart, I'd definitely send them along to the local archaeology society just to be safe, even if it ends up being nothing.

The article I think you're referring to was by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland. They found 82 new ones in just one area of Aberdeenshire. You could also try cross-referencing with old Ordnance Survey maps from the 1800s, a lot of those had stone circles marked that got missed in later surveys.
