Spotted a weird stone pattern at the Cahokia Mounds visitor center

Was there last weekend and noticed a small, off-center circle of flat stones near the base of Monks Mound that wasn't on the main map. A guide said it was flagged by a grad student last fall and they think it might be a post pit from a structure older than the main plaza. Anyone know if they've published anything on that find yet?

Honestly I'm not buying that it's some big ancient discovery. Grad students get excited about EVERYTHING and probably just saw some rocks that fell off a modern walkway. Cahokia has been picked over for decades, if there was something IMPORTANT there they would have found it already.

Yeah you make a good point about grad students getting excited over anything @taylorm89. But here's something nobody's talking about - maybe they found something because they used new tech like ground-penetrating radar that didn't exist when people were digging around there decades ago.
