Skipped the field class for a 3 week lab stint in Tucson, and the lab found a 900 year old pot handle
Back in my junior year I had to pick between staying on a dig in southern Utah for 6 weeks or taking a lab slot in Tucson cataloging sherds for 3 weeks. I picked the lab and on day 9 I pulled a Hohokam paddle-and-anvil pot handle out of a drawer of unwashed bags from a 1998 salvage dig that never got recorded. Has anyone else skipped a big dig and ended up glad they did?
