Saw something wild at the Cahokia Mounds last weekend

I went to Cahokia Mounds in Illinois last Saturday and noticed the big Monk's Mound has these weird sinkholes forming on the side. The ranger said they're from old erosion that wasn't fixed right years ago. Anyone know if they're planning to stabilize it before it gets worse?

Heard from a friend who works in preservation that there's been talk for years about reinforcing Monk's Mound, but funding always falls through.

Mounds have been sitting there for a thousand years, pretty sure some sinkholes aren't gonna take it down overnight. Sounds like the usual govt fear-mongering to me.
