Heard a podcast about the new LiDAR scans in the Amazon

I was listening to the 'Archaeology Now' podcast last week and they were talking about those huge LiDAR surveys in Brazil. The host said they found over 10,000 earthwork structures under the canopy that nobody knew were there. It made me think how much we still don't know about pre-Columbian societies, and how tech is basically rewriting the textbook. Has anyone else read the actual paper on this from the journal 'Nature'?

Did you check out the open-access version of that paper? It's worth reading the supplement where they break down how they filtered the data to separate natural features from the man-made stuff.

That tech is showing us a whole hidden world down there.

Nah it's just more data to sort through.
