Grandpa's journal had sketches that matched a known archaeology site
I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and found a dusty old journal from my grandpa. It had sketches of what looked like burial mounds near our old farm, which reminded me of his tales about the land. I spent hours online checking out archaeology sites in the area, getting totally sidetracked. Sure enough, there's a recorded site just a mile away that fits his drawings perfectly.

Man, that's wild about your grandpa's journal. I totally get getting sidetracked online, like last week I meant to look up a recipe and ended down a rabbit hole about old typewriters for three hours. My own research skills are so bad I probably would've missed the site even if it was in my backyard. It's pretty cool that his sketches lined up with a real place though, makes all that time spent online feel almost useful for once.

Last month I meant to check a fact for my blog and lost three hours to articles about abandoned railways. Your grandpa's journal matching a real spot, @william_ellis29, shows how those tangents sometimes pay off.

So walker.robert, is that how you explain to your boss why the blog post is late? At least you found something cool instead of just reading about old trains.
