Got handed a real pottery sherd at the Wilcox County dig and now I can't walk a plowed field the same
Last spring I was at a field survey near Camden, Alabama, and the guy running it put a 500 year old piece of Creek pottery in my hand before I'd even opened my bag. I'd been picking up flakes for two seasons and calling anything brown "probably a rock." The cord marks on that sherd were so clear it kind of ticked me off that nobody showed me sooner. I rewalked my own property line the next weekend and found 14 pieces I'd stepped over for a whole year. Anybody else have a moment like that where one artifact reset how you look at the ground?
