Found a roman coin with my metal detector after 2 years of digging trash

My first year with the detector I found 47 pull tabs and a rusted car key before I got my first wheat penny. The key was keeping a log of every spot and what I found there, even the junk. That helped me figure out the spots where old trash was deep and where newer trash was just sitting on top. After about 18 months I started digging less modern junk and more old bottle caps and nails, which is a good sign. Once you get those deep signals that cut through the trash, that's when the good stuff shows up. That roman coin makes all the sore knees and dirty hands worth it.
