Took a dead oak limb on the shoulder in Forest Park because I skipped my second tie-in point
I was 40 feet up in a red oak near the Portland arboretum last Tuesday when a limb I'd already notched swung back and clipped me, and the only reason I walked away with a bruise instead of a broken collarbone is that my ground guy yelled at me two months ago to stop rushing my tie-ins, so now I'm wondering how many of you actually run two when you're doing storm cleanup versus just when the boss is watching.
Last summer I clipped a dead branch on a removal and it swung back into my hardhat so hard I saw stars, and my ground guy still brings it up at every job. Two tie-ins in a red oak is not being a hero, it is just smart. I run a second one on storm work even when the boss is nowhere near, mostly because I like my teeth where they are. The one time I skipped it, I spent the ride home poking at my shoulder like an idiot making sure nothing was cracked. Lesson learned the hard way, same as you.
