TIL my old climbing rope has 3,000 logged work hours on it
I was cleaning out my gear shed and found the logbook for my first 16-strand rope, the one I used for five years straight on residential jobs in Charlotte. Seeing that number hit me hard, thinking about every limb walk and rigging job it saw without a single core shot. When do you guys decide a rope has given its all, even if it still looks okay?

Retire it before it retires you.

Read a story about a guy who pushed his gear too far. Wasn't pretty.

Honestly that rope sounds like it's got plenty of life left if it's still in one piece.
