Appreciation post: The old growth I found on a camping trip up north
It's sad to see how much has been logged since then.

Come on, is it really that bad? They replant those areas. I drove through some cut blocks from the 90s last year and it's already thick with young trees. Sure, it looks rough for a bit, but it grows back. We still need wood for houses and paper, right? What's the better plan that keeps people working?

Everyone mourns the trees, but we still need two by fours. Logging puts food on tables in places with few other options. The forest will grow back, just give it time.

Totally get that people need work to feed their kids. It's a real problem in small towns with not much else going on. Hoping we can manage the forests better for the long run.
