The day I finally figured out I was stripping screws wrong for 5 years

I was wrestling with a stripped hex screw on a washer lid last Tuesday and my coworker Mike walked over and just goes "you know you're supposed to push in while turning, right?" I had been angling the bit slightly this whole time because I thought it gave better torque. Tried his method on the next machine and the screw came out smooth in 10 seconds. Made me wonder how many other dumb habits I've been carrying around without knowing. Anyone else have that one thing they did backwards forever?
