That LG washer I fixed last Tuesday threw a new error code within 24 hours

I replaced the drain pump on a 2020 LG top loader last Tuesday. Customer said it was leaking and making a grinding noise. Got it all buttoned up, ran a test cycle, everything looked good. They called me the next day saying it threw an OE error and wouldn't spin. I drove back out and found a kids sock jammed in the new pump impeller. How does that even happen after I just had it open? Has anyone else had luck adding a mesh filter on the drain hose for households with kids?

Hold up - a sock?! After you literally just had the pump open and cleared everything out? I had something similar happen with a Samsung washer I fixed last month, replaced the drain pump, and the next day the customer said it was making this awful rattling sound. I pulled the pump again and found a crushed-up crayon melting on the impeller. Kids are like little gremlins that spawn laundry hazards the second you turn your back, I swear.
