Spent 6 hours on a fridge that had one bad relay

Got a call about a Samsung not cooling, compressor humming but no click. I checked the start relay with my multimeter twice and it read fine, so I chased the compressor and the main board for 4 hours. Finally pulled the relay apart and found a cracked solder joint inside the plastic housing, showed open under load but not at rest. $6 part fixed it, but I billed the customer for 6 hours of labor and felt dumb. Anyone else trust a meter reading too much when the part is cheap to just swap first?
