Shoutout to the guy who showed me the penny trick on gas valves
I was wrestling with a 6 year old Whirlpool dryer at a house on Maple Street last Tuesday, couldn't get the gas valve to seat right no matter what. The homeowner's dad was watching and said "try a penny between the valve and the bracket for alignment." I figured why not, threw a 1999 penny in there, and the whole thing clicked into place perfectly. Anyone else got weird alignment hacks like that for specific brands?

Man that penny trick saved me too. I was working on a GE gas range last fall and the valve was sitting just a hair off. Took a 1982 penny, same deal, everything lined up like magic. It's crazy how something that small can fix a alignment problem that has you ready to throw the whole appliance out the window. I keep a handful of loose change in my tool bag now just for that.
