Rant: A laundromat in Phoenix made me rethink my whole approach to dryer repairs

I was out in Phoenix last month fixing a machine at a busy laundromat and noticed the heat was warping the plastic vents way faster than I ever expected. Has anyone else dealt with dryers in hotter climates? It seems like we need different materials out here.

Man, that heat really does a number on things... I've seen the same kind of warping out here in Tucson and it's a nightmare to keep up with.

Have you ever tried putting up shade cloth over your windows or patio, @hannah240? It sounds like a small thing, but I've seen it cut down on a ton of that warping in doors and frames out here in Phoenix. The direct sun just bakes everything until it twists, and it's crazy how quick it happens. I had a neighbor who didn't bother and his front door wouldn't even close right after one summer. A good UV resistant shade cloth isn't pretty but it beats replacing a whole door or window frame every few years. Plus it keeps the house cooler so your AC doesn't work as hard, double win.
